How key depressions are counted

This is why raw WPM alone doesn't tell the full story: fast typists who rely heavily on backspace can burn depressions without gaining accuracy.

Backspace rules
Backspace is allowed, but it is not free — every backspace counts as a key depression. Two habits that hurt candidates:
